Flutterby

We’re getting lots of little creatures in the garden now that it’s getting warmer.

The garden seems to be looking different everyday with lots of new growth everywhere. I love this time of year! Today I’ve planted corgette and squash seeds, carrots and broad beans.

Chickens and Dandelions!

One of the good things about chickens is that they’re weed munching machines!

More birds in the garden

For the past few weeks we’ve had a steady stream of starlings and wood pigeons munching on the mealworms and fat-balls on the bird feeder. That’s not much of a variety considering what we see flying around the area, so we thought we’d try some different foods on it.

This week have had several new types of birds munching on the “Suet Pellets with Wild Berries” and “wild bird seeds”!

I’ve tried to photo the different birds, but it’s quite difficult – most of them zoom in and out really quickly on their little food raids. Some hang about for photos though…

Rock Dove/Rock Pigeon

Initially I thought it was a standard wood pigeon, but it’s slightly different! Their bodies are a bit whiter and have stripey wing tips.

Coal Tit

These little guys have been munching the seeds out of the feeder. I think I need a bigger zoom lens for them!

Jackdaw

Recognisable by it’s distinctive shiny grey/black coat and blue/white eye

Robin

We’ve seen this in the trees/bushes in the alley behind our house several times now, but never in our garden. Until now.

Blackbird

They’re black birds with yellow beaks.

Crocuses

Lots more crocuses (croci?!) are flowering now :)

Garden Adventures

The hens are enjoying their new freedom, the cats are still not sure what to make of them!
